Valentine's Beauty

For some reason, Valentine's Day seems to be a somewhat controversial holiday, especially among women. Every year, there are couples basking in the glow of their togetherness, and singles either looking on wistfully, or declaring it an event created by Halmark to sell cards. While I've only spent a few Valentine's with a guy, (one was a first date!) it's always been a fun occasion for me. For singles, I think it's a great excuse to pamper yourself, or get dolled up with your friends. Here are some Valentine's themed goodies to get you in the spirit!

This is a drugstore product that I've seen hyped like crazy, especially in magazines coming out for February. It's the Physician's Formula Happy Booster Mood & Glow Boosting Blush. Not only is it a pretty shade of pink with adorable hearts all over it, but it is scented with violet, and it is infused with a plant extract that is supposed to mimick the effects of your body's natural endorphins. I'm not sure about the endorphin mimicking effects, but I feel happy just looking at this blush, which is good enough for me!

This pretty pink lipcolor just came out with MAC's Peacocky collection. Pink is always better than red if your looking to get some kisses. This product isn't sticky, and has a nice consistency, perfect for a date, or girls who hate getting hair stuck in their lip gloss!

This perfume is from a company called Booty Parlor. Not only is it the perfect size to fit in your clutch, but it is infused with phermones, oh la la.

Flirty false lashes are a must. Any brand is great, I am a fan of semi-natural looking lashes, especially ones that flare out in the corners. These Make Up Forever lashes are so pretty!

Lastly, for those staying in and relaxing, is this candle from Diptyque. It's rose scented and comes in a cute pink mini jar, with an impressive 30 hour burn time.

Hope everyone enjoys their Valentine's Day! Let me know if there are any prodcuts your looking forward to this February.

Christmas Wishlist

I cannot believe that it's already December 23rd. Only two days until Christmas! I am cooped up at home recovering from a double foot surgery, and tendon stretching procedure, but doing well. I've already finished my Christmas shopping fortunately, and I have only a few more things to wrap. Whilst immobile I was planning to do some reading, but that hasn't happened, and instead I have been online window shopping and reading blogs, along with watching thecurrentcustom on Youtube. I'm also hoping to squeeze in a few blog posts, and I've enjoyed seeing what's on everyone else's wishlist. Below is a combination of things I actually asked for, and some things that are entirely fantasy, because I'd feel terrible if someone spent that much money on me.That said I don't feel remotely guilty about indulging on here. (: Let me know what you're wishing for this holiday season! (Also, no one has paid me, or sent me products in exchange for mentioning them in this post! All opinions are my own.)

The large madison leather sophia satchel from Coach. It is so beautiful! Classic, and great for everyday. This is the kind of thing I'd only feel comfortable buying for myself since it's so expensive. ($358!) That said, Coach has a great warranty agreement which allows you to send in your bag for repair, so it can be a worthwhile investment.

The Sigma 15 piece professional brush set. I've never used any of Sigma's brushes, but they come so highly recommended, and this kit is a pretty good deal. $150 for 15 brushes is still expensive, but will get you much more than it would at MAC or Chanel. Check out Sigma's other brush sets at their websites. http://www.sigmabeauty.com/default.asp

Deborah Lipmann makes beautiful high quality nail polishes. They are however, more than your average bottle of OPI, so they make great gifts. I selected four shades here, but there are so many more beautiful colors. If you aren't familiar with them, or just want to see more, check out her website!  http://lippmanncollection.stores.yahoo.net/allproducts.html

Across the Universe ($18)

Shape of my Heart ($16)

Waking up in Vegas ($16)
Happy Birthday ($18)

Frye engineer boots. These babies will put a $250 dent in your wallet but they are about as well made, and high quality a boot as you can get, and if you take care of them, they should basically last forever. I love these boots because not only are they adorable, but they're comfortable, practical shoes that you can get a ton of use out of. http://www.zappos.com/frye-engineer-15r-gaucho

I really love Nicole Richie's line of accessories, House of Harlow 1960. The items are relatively well priced, and really lovely. I am pretty sure there is something for everyone. The key ring is $84, and the sunburst necklace is $80.

This Tarte Jewelry Box Palette is really a great value. It's $54 from Sephora, and it comes with 24 shadows, two cheek colors, several lip shades, and eye liner pencils, along with a necklace! This is a great gift to give to any beauty lover (or to receive obviously.) sephora.com

Lastly, I am in LOVE with this love ring by Sydney Evans. It's sold for $620 on thecurrentcustom.com, and I absolutely adore it. Obviously, as a college student, it would be a little impractical to purchase this right now, but a girl can dream! I like the white gold version, but the website only displays the yellow gold. It is dainty, beautiful, and unusual. I've never seen one like it.

So there you have it, my Christmas wishlist. If you're interested in things I purchased for other people as gifts, let me know, and I may do a post after the holidays. Also, if you're interested in a Christmas haul post, I can do that too! Hope everyone has a happy holiday!

Hi prospective readers!

My name is Stasia (pronounced Stah-sha) and I've long been obsessed with all things beauty, fashion, and art related. After following many blogs and subscribing to many Youtube beauty gurus, I've decided to get in on the action. It may take me a while, as I am toying around with lighting, and cameras, but I also plan to make Youtube videos! For those interested, my username is stasiaplaysmakeup. I'll post my first video here, once everything is up and running. Before that however, I'll try and start reviewing some products! If you have any requests, don't be shy. My e-mail address is stasiaplaysmakeup@yahoo.com, and I will be responding to comments here.

(My background and heading image are both from the Background Fairy's blog, but I had difficulty with her button. On that note, my HTML is functional but clumsy. Any site suggestions/help would be much appreciated)
